The story.

Wanderjournal is a travel passport and scrapbook journal for iPhone. It gives every country you visit a passport stamp, and every trip a journal to fill with photos, tickets and notes.

It's made by James Genchi, a UX designer, developer and keen travel photographer from Ilkley, West Yorkshire. The idea came from iPhone Duo: folded, it's almost exactly the size of a passport, and open, it reads like a book. The app is designed around that shape and works on any iPhone.

Wanderjournal, a travel passport and journal for iPhone, is coming soon to the App Store

ILKLEY, West Yorkshire – Wanderjournal, a travel passport and scrapbook journal for iPhone, is coming soon to the App Store. It gives every country you visit a passport stamp, and every trip a journal to fill with photos, tickets and notes.

Wanderjournal is made by James Genchi, a UX designer, developer and keen travel photographer (@yorkshirecameraman on Instagram) from Ilkley. The idea came from iPhone Duo: folded, it's almost exactly the size of a passport, and open, it reads like a book. The app is designed around that shape and works on any iPhone.

Features

  • Finds your past trips: reads where and when your photos were taken, on the iPhone, and suggests a stamp for every country you've visited, oldest first.
  • A stamp for every country: pick how you arrived (plane, train, ferry, car or on foot) and a stamp is pressed into your passport.
  • Pages for the stories: photos, handwriting, washi tape, stickers, route maps and keepsake tickets, from boarding passes to gig tickets. Draw with a finger or Apple Pencil.
  • Your travels in numbers: countries, stamps and continents, a world map that colours in, a spinning globe and a year in review.
  • Home Screen widgets: a photo from this day in your travels, a countdown to your next trip and your globe of routes.
  • Photo frame: half-fold iPhone Duo and it becomes a slideshow of your favourite moments.
  • Covers to suit: classic leathers with gold foil, or patterns made for jetsetters.

Privacy and price

Wanderjournal has no accounts, adverts or tracking, and collects no data. Journals stay on the iPhone and sync through the user's own iCloud. Photos are read on the device and never uploaded.

Wanderjournal is free to download, with unlimited stamps and journal pages. Wanderjournal Plus is a one-off purchase of £3.99, not a subscription. It adds every trip found in your photos (the free version adds the first three), travel stats and year in review, train, bus and event tickets, templates, sticker packs, extra covers, Home Screen widgets and PDF export.

Wanderjournal will be available soon on the App Store for iPhone running iOS 18 or later.
